Geeking Out at the Invicta FC 3 Weigh-Ins

As the Invicta Fighters Streamed in for the weigh-ins of the Fighting Championships third show, it was apparent that the ladies were ready to get it over with so they could go get their grub on. At this point, the ladies moods were a vast array. The fighters that had a bad weight cut looked like if you touched them they would fall over, Those ladies who walk around close to their fighting weight were all smiles and seemed chill. One fighters weight cut was so bad an eyewitness thought they heard her growl. (and it wasn't her stomach)

I found my spot to sit, (on the floor respectively) The view was a good one and I was chatting with my new friend Lori when I look to the left of me and there is Ms. Sarah Kaufman. I respect the 135lbs fighter (who was supposed to fight on this Invicta card but was injured) but I wouldn't call myself a hardcore Kaufman fan. Boy was I wrong. I geeked out like a fan boy at comic-con and I put my hand out to shake hers. She was very nice and shook my hand and said, "Nice to meet you I'm Sarah".

Then, I got a jolt of giddyness rumbling inside my gut. Sarah went on to get a pic with Invicta commentator and all around Women's MMA legend, Julie Kedzie.  Sitting in my my position behind them I thought about going for the photobomb but, I remembered I am a mature adult.

Back Stage at the Weigh-ins, the fighters
showed support for a man fighting testicular cancer.
The weigh-ins began and the first stare-down was the most intense one of the evening with Ediane Gomes and Katalina Mangalahu doing a Rousey/Tate style forehead touch style of staredown. Most of the staredowns following were typical until Sarah D'Alelio and Shayna Baszler stood opposite eachother. Shayna did her usual rock and roll style of stare down putting her dukes up in many different positions then, D'Alelio matched Baszler pose for pose. The crowd loved it. Baszler thought it was all in fun. I have a sinking feeling, D'Alelio meant it as a slap in the face. (but that is just me)

Two fighters didn't make weight, Lacey Schuckman and Tara LaRosa. Schucman missed the mark by two tenths of a pound and easily made the weight in the time alotted. Larosa was off by a little more than a pound. Both fighters will lose 10% of their purse because they were both within a pund of the mark. Because they were within the now two pound over limit they won't be losing 25% of their purse.

After the weigh-ins the ladies streamed out to go rehydrate and fill their bellies. Other Women's MMA fighters who are not fighting on this Invicta cardwere hanging out among the crowd. Mollie Estes, Sarah Schneider and Miesha Tate.

The evening ended down in the lobby of the hotel hanging with fighters, who by now had a full belly and were making the transition into game-on.

So, now today is the day. The big fights are tonight and RWWMMA will be there taking in the awesomeness and certainly geeking out once again.
